Agent Technology: Key to Multi-Platform Distributed Testing

QualityWorks' exclusive Agent technology permits you to extend your tests across networks and diverse platforms -- beyond the GUI -- to other components of your applications. Platform-specific Agents can be simultaneously run on both the host machine and multiple heterogeneous target machines across a client/server network. By maintaining an ongoing conversation with these Agents, QA Partner is able to orchestrate simultaneous, concurrent testing of client/server events across multiple client/server components.

The Agent is a system component that deals with all GUI-specific issues and differences and provides over 250 member functions for use in conjunction with Visual 4Test commands.

Visual 4Test scripts request logical operations (push, click, pick, select, etc.) against named logical GUI objects (push button windows, list boxes, text fields, etc.) -- while the Agent works hand-in-hand with the GUI Manager to find and activate the corresponding physical window objects. The intelligent Agents interpret those logical Visual 4Test commands into platform-specific actions. In this way, one logical Visual 4Test script can be executed across multiple platforms.

Agents are available for every platform supported by QualityWorks -- Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows NT, every major UNIX implementation, OS/2 and Macintosh -- over 20 in all.
